About Library

Spread over 390.17 square meters, SIMS Library is a knowledge hub that blends functionality with inspiration. The library is divided in three different segments yet interconnected zones – the Main Library, Reading Room and Open Area – offering seamless environment for focused study, digital access and group study, with total seating capacity of 96 people.

SIMS library is an integral part of academic ecosystem, providing essential learning support to student, faculty and researcher through comprehensive collection of books, e-books, magazine and journals, and e-resources in management and its related subject.

The library has created a blog offering freely available diverse collection of e-books, competitive exam materials, learning aids, and interactive content to enhance your educational journey.

Facilities Available


Reading Room

The room adjacent to the Main Library is a silence zone encouraging individual study. The reading room is well equipped with AC, and every carrel is equipped with electric switches for charging Laptops and mobiles.

Open Area

Beautiful small green area at the backyard of the Main Library, with the country fig tree in the centre, is used for facilitating group study.


Wi-Fi connectivity

Library is Wi-Fi enable so that library users can use their own laptops for surfing databases or internet browsing.

Workstations

6 Bloomberg terminals and 2 workstations are placed in the reading room for accessing rich digital collection of the library.


OPAC

Library is automated with KOHA Management System. Users can easily explore our entire print collection anytime, anywhere with the KOHA Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). Link for accessing the collection is given in service segment of the library website

Remote Access to Database

Monday to Saturday – 8.30 am to 9.00 pm
Sunday – 10.00 am to 6.00 pm

Library Holidays

Library remains open on all days except the Symbiosis declared holidays.

Circulation Hours

Monday to Saturday – 11.00 am to 7.00 pm
Sunday – 10.00 am to 5.00 pm

General Rules

  • While entering the library users should keep their personal belongings like textbooks, issued books, personal copies, magazines, newspaper, laptop bags etc. on the bag racks. Users can carry their laptops in reading areas. Users are responsible for all personal possessions including wallets, mobiles etc.

  • Always carry your identity card when you visit library, failing so may forbid from entering the library.

  • Use of mobile inside the library is prohibited.

  • Books and other materials taken for reference should not be re-shelved. The readers should leave the material on the table. Remember that book misplace is book lost.

  • Readers should not mark / tear/misuse/damage the reading material/library property. If found so he/she will be charge for replace/pay full value for the loss and may lead to debar from library.

  • The Librarian has the power to cancel the membership or refuse the entry/admission of any member who violate the rules and regulations of the Library or involve in any kind of misconduct.

Fee Structure

The student, staff, faculty and research scholar of Symbiosis International University are member of SIMS Library.

SIMS alumnus and visiting faculty can apply for membership by filling membership form available in the library. This membership could be avail at the approval of the SIMS Director.

Conduct for Members

  • Members should adhere to dress code defined by the institute.

  • Eatables are not allowed inside the library.

  • Beverages other than water are not allowed inside the library.

  • Reading Room is meant for individual focused study only. Members found discussing or chitchatting are strictly prohibited.

  • Members can use Main Library and Open Area for discussion.

  • Members can carry reading material, laptops, and water bottles inside the library. Bags are to be kept in the bag racks at the entrance.

  • Library will terminate the member in case of misbehavior / violation of rules.

Reading Hall Membership

is a temporary membership for individuals, other than Symbiosis International University, interested in using Library reading hall only. The membership is valid for 3 months only. Member interested in continuing shall apply again. Members shall carry their own material for study. These members are not eligible for borrowing facility.

Case base Membership

is a temporary membership. The fees may vary according to requested usage of Library services and as recommended by the Director.
