I am or doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion about the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. - Benjamin Franklin We do not save lives.

Events Detail

On 30th of July, KAVACH, a clothes donation drive was conducted by Pranay at the Railway Slums. This clothes donation drive is conducted every year for residents of various slums. Student managers from both the senior and junior batch contribute to this noble cause by donating their old clothes. When they arrived at the location, they were greeted by a swarm of happy and excited children. They gathered all our cartons inside a small temple and distributed clothes to the residents of the slums. Their team split in groups of four and went door to door for distributing clothes. They were warmly welcomed by the people and they humbly accepted the clothes they gave them. We also gave Tinkle magazines to children and were amazed to know that many of them could read English. The team managed to cover the entire slum area and distribute all the clothes that they had got with them. They were glad to know that this initiative bore fruit when they saw the residents happy to receive the clothes.

The event started with a cake cutting ceremony by Director sir, Brig. Rajiv Divekar ,Pranay Faculty head Dr. PradnyaChitrao and Dr. Swati Nalawade along with the children, which was followed by a quick refreshment made available for children followed by a drawing competition where the children got an opportunity to draw their minds. On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sakranti, PranayTeam planned to make this day special for the children of Saraswati Ashram situated in Dapodi. We organized an outing to McDonald’s (E-Square) for them. This initiative was supported by Miss Swati Eshwari, one of SIMS student. McDonald’s also supported this initiative by giving 50% off on their daily meals for the children and as a kind gesture had decorated their outlet with balloons.

The children were excited as it was altogether a different kind of experience for them. We too had an enjoyable time with them, where we shared moments of laughter as children danced to tunes and played with balloons. To cheer them up even further, we had a balloon-balancing competition. The children even showed us some magic tricks, which left us dazzled. We had arranged some goodies, which we distributed among them as they parted. The children were happy, which made us feel even happier. And yet again Pranay as a team succeeded in its mission of “Spreading Smiles”.
