Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Welcomed into CFA Institute University Affiliation Program

Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies has joined the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program since September 2017. This helps our MBA students to take the first step towards a successful career by preparing for the CFA Program. Our MBA program has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program. This program positions student’s will to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world. Entry into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited for preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. By participating in this program, Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year.

SIMS is happy to announce her association with SPSS in training IBM SPSS 22.0 package for researchers and practitioners. SIMS and SPSS would be jointly holding training sessions for researchers, academicians, students and corporate for use and awareness of this powerful statistical software, which is being widely used by Companies, research agencies and educational institutions. Faculty members across institutions could take this opportunity towards developing their research skills and quality.

A large number of corporates, research professionals, middle and junior management personnel approach us for conduct of certified modules for two to three days on Advanced Statistics. We are glad to inform you that we have an MoU with IBM SPSS for conduct of this certified module and have been conducting it regularly for the past four years where in the the resource person is a trained instructor from IBM SPSS. It has proved to be a major success, attracting a number of participants.

SIMS and BSEBF (Bombay Stock Exchange Broker’s Forum) have signed an MOU which non-commercial in nature. The objective of this MOU to enhance the employability of students, in the banking and financial service domain.


The SIMS C to C – MDP and Consulting Cell has undertaken a Mission to partner with the Corporates in the ongoing management revolution. It is our endeavour to provide state – of – art, innovative training modules ranging from one day general and customized programs to full-fledged training programs spread over a period of few months, designed to meet specific requirements. Besides we also provide other value add on services like consulting.

Our motto in our mission can be encapsuled in one word ‘Excellence’. Also keeping the above in mind, we have evolved a Vision which can be summed thus : Innovation, Customization, Commitment and Delivery.

The Institute has associated with a number of organisations including CII, FICCI, NASSCOM, ICICI Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Pune Management Association, National Foundation of Corporate Governance and MCCIA to promote industry-academia interaction and conduct training programs. Academia-industry interaction through Guest lectures, industry and corporate visits, and ‘faculty on campus’ by industry are welcomed. SIMS conducts Management Development Programs and Corporate Governance development programs for the corporate world across a wide array of contemporary issues, that are designed to sharpen skills and broaden perspectives at all levels.

A Management Development Programe (MDP) in the area of Business Strategy titled “Strategic Decision Making through Business Simulation” was conducted at the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) on 23rd July 2017. – Dr. Komal Chopra and Dr. Sanjay Pawar were the organizers (program in-charge) of this MDP. – Dr. Sanjay Pawar also conducted an initial theory session at the MDP on the topic of “Business Strategy”. – The resource person of the MDP was Mr Atish Bakhru, SAP Global Solutions Support Team, Tata Consultancy Services. The participant composition was diverse consisting of PG Students, Industry Managers and Faculty of Education Institutions. In all, 31 participants from various cities attended the MDP. Industry managers from IBM, Mahindra & Mahindra, Vodafone and Quick Heal Technologies attended the MDP. The program feedback was encouraging and the MDP organizers even received favorable response emails from some of the participants post the event.

SIMS organised a unique MDP which aimed at providing an insight into as to how to convert real world applications in Excel spread sheet model and to present the same using PowerPoint. It gave the understanding into basics, functions and data analysis for Excel. The PowerPoint session covered adding images into slides, change background design, and slide transitions and animations. The experts were, Prof. M. Dhanunjay Kumar, Mr. Raghav Kochhar and Mr. Pushpendra V.K. There were 6 participants who attended this MDP and were immensely benefitted from the expert advice. The participants expressed their desire to attend the similar MDP in future as there were real time benefits attached to this MDP. Dr. Mita Mehta and Prof. Arti Chandani thanked all the participants and judges to make the event successful.

Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) conducted one day MDP on “Leaders’ Training” for 23 employees of Gestamp Automotive India Pvt Ltd, Chakan, Pune, a global vendor of Volkswagen.

Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) conducted 6 day Management Development Program on “Developing Salesmen into Businessmen” for their employees . This program was conducted during 25th May to 30 May 2015. Total 19 employees of Vaibhav Empire Pvt Ltd attended the same course.

Supply Chain Management

Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) in collaboration with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) conducted a 10 week course on “Supply Chain Management “ fordefence officials recently retired or on the verge of retirement . The course was conducted from 5th Jan to 14th March 2015.Total 17 officers had attended the program.

The Programme of Study

The MSc Management can help you develop the skills you will need to progress as an effective manager. The MA International Business offers an opportunity to study the conceptual and practical demands of international business and the management of cultural diversity. While the course allows specialisation through option choice, the main emphasis is upon the development of generic qualities and abilities relevant to international business. This emphasis is justified because of the need in modern international organisations for functional flexibility, inter-departmental and inter-professional collaboration, and organisational capability. The MSc Finance is designed for aspiring finance professionals who want to gain specialist knowledge and skills. The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge, flexibility and skills base required for seeking employment in the increasingly complex and demanding financial services sector. The MSc Finance explores the theoretical underpinnings and current practice in finance from different perspectives and from both national and international contexts. The course has a strong international dimension and we attract students from countries as diverse as China, India, and Vietnam.

In Leeds you will study 3 subjects [modules] which will vary depending on the course and what studies you have completed at SIMS. You will also undertake a Research Methods module and a Personal Development Planning module. Finally you will complete a Dissertation, an independent piece of research which you will prepare under the supervision of an individual mentor.

Travel Connections

Leeds is located at the centre of the UK’s road, rail and air transportation network. Leeds Bradford International Airport is situated just 8 miles from Leeds city centre. The airport is also served by a 24 hour express coach link from Leeds city centre. There is a direct train line from Leeds to Manchester airport, a journey which takes under one hour. Leeds Bradford International Airport connects with locations around the world via a link to Schipol Airport Amsterdam. We recommend that you avoid London airports. Leeds city train station provides a fast rail service to many UK cities, for example: London 2 hours 20 minutes; Edinburgh 3 hours 45 minutes; York 25 minutes; Manchester 1 hour .The city is also served well by roads, with the M1 motorway linking Leeds with London and the M62 connecting Leeds with Manchester and Hull. The Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) was founded on 1 April 2009 through the merger of the Berlin School of Economics (BSE) and the FHVR Berlin, a university of applied sciences for administration and law. The new Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) decisively strengthens the German capital’s position as a location for tertiary level education and research.
