It gives me great pleasure to introduce to the corporate world the students graduating this year from the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) , a joint venture between the Government of India, Ministry of Defence and the Symbiosis Society of Pune.
Established in 1993, the SIMS in this brief span has achieved a position of prominence amongst institutions conducting courses in Management Studies in India. It has the distinction of being the first institute to provide quality business education exclusively to defence personnel and their dependents.
The SIMS offers a Two - Year Full Time Post Graduate Diploma in Management to its students and the two flagship course specializations offered are PGDM (Dual) and PGDM (Personnel Management & Human Resources). Besides it also conducts a short term incentive course for the defence personnel sponsored by the Ministry of Defence.
In a period of five years, the SIMS has endeavoured to blend the discipline and the dedication of the defence personnel with the dynamism of the corporate sector. The nine months 'on the job training' with various industries in and around Pune enhances the overall grooming of the candidates towards making them result oriented professional managers for the corporate world. The outcome of this training is a force of innovative and effective managers who have earned placements on merit in some of the country's most reputed firms and business houses. I take this opportunity to urge the Chief Executives and Managers of the corporate world to give due credence to the efforts of the SIMS and the attributes of its alumni while effecting placements.

I am happy to learn that Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) is bringing out a Placement Brochure 1998 on the occasion of its 'Campus Placement Programme'.
Ever since its establishment in 1993, SIMS has been doing exceedingly well to impart quality in the field of business and management to the dependents of the Armed Forces personnel. The institution can take legitimate pride in having dedicated itself to train students to face the challenges of the future.
I am confident that the leading industrial houses of the country will enthusiastically respond to the 'Campus Placement Programme' of the institute. Needless to say that the effective and qualified Managers produced by SIMS would prove an asset to the companies offering them employment opportunities, as they are not only a perfect blend of discipline and dedication, but are also highly motivated and innovative in their professional approach.
On this occasion, I convey my warm greetings to the director, faculty and all the students, and wish them success in their endeavors.

The bold initiative, which had been taken by the Symbiosis Society on the request of the Government of India, Ministry of Defence to establish the Symbiosis Institute Of Management Studies (SIMS), SIMS has the distinction of being the first Management institute imparting quality business education to the defence personnel and their dependents..
Within a few years of its inception SIMS has managed to create a perfect blend of discipline and dedication of the defence forces and the dynamism of the corporate sector.
In the past five years SIMS has produced highly motivated, innovate and effective managers who have succeeded in being placed in some of the best companies in India. As a nation we need to develop nothing but the best in the world wherein the Human Resource is the most valuable asset.
This is amply stated by the institute being led by a Young and Dynamic Director. His innovative leadership has led the institute to envisage itself on the global forefront in the near future.
As an ambassador to this cause, a well wisher and as a member of the vast defence community I take this opportunity to welcome you to SIMS. It is indeed heartening to note the close interaction by the industry in developing budding managers and feel confident that this would continue. The industry would choose out of these, many student managers and I am sure that due encouragement would be provided in the Placement scenario this year.
