| Colosseum 2006 |
In an endeavour to understand the needs of the evolving business environment, Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS), organized its Annual HR and ICT Seminar “Colosseum- Convergence Begins" on 14th –15th of October 2006. Colosseum 2006 amalgamated the ideas of HRM and ICT to provide viable business solutions. With the world economy merging, the role of technology has become pivotal in all aspects of business. This inculcates the need to understand the imperatives for Human Resources, as it is the people who use newer innovations for the success of corporates. With these views in mind, we here at SIMS tried to facilitate a discourse on juxtaposing technology and human resource for the benefit of a better comprehension of contemporary business solutions.
Traditionally the Corporate world has been divided into HR and non-HR, with Human Resource Management seen as a cost centre and only as a support function. But slowly things are changing. Now, organizations are frequently looking towards HR for solutions to their problems, new wave is emerging, that of: Human Resource - Integrated. Keeping this in mind, On October 14th the theme was ‘Human Resource - Integrated’. Our student managers were addressed by a number of respected & distinguished corporate dignitaries who discussed the various features of the changing paradigms in the HR industry today, to name a few Mr. S Banerjee, Director HR Xansa, Mr Harshvendra Soin, Sr VP HR Bharti Airtel Ltd & many others.
The second day of Colosseum 2006 focused on emerging trends and changing technologies in the IT sector & so on October 15th the theme for the seminar was ‘Past Present & Future of ICT’. To name a few corporate honchos who shared their valuable insights with out student managers were Mr Ramanuja S Kashi Head Research Avaya, Mr S.K Gupta Head NGN TRAI & many others.
And so as the name suggests “Coloseum”, it was an amphitheater that provided a stage for intellectual meetings besides the display of bravery & zeal. |
